Pop Up Blindness

Week two - December 10, 2009

  • See

    Godzone

There's a fervour in the revivalist tent, where Reverend Kevin of Rudd Ministries, in a sermon from the German translated via Mandarin, tells his congregation that religion is the new politics and vice versa. Called up to testify, his guests, drawn from the Great and the Good, will each bear witness to the powerful spirit moving across this land.

Folly is his pińata. Max Gillies has been pricking pomp, slaughtering sacred cows and beating up bęte noirs for decades. In Godzone his trail of destruction continues with a new cast of victims.

Location: Melbourne Theatre Company, St. Kilda Rd

    The Handmade Help Recipe Book

The Handmade Help Recipe Book was a clever initiative by a group of crafters who wanted to contribute to the Black Saturday recovery effort.
The result is a gorgeous cookbook, packed with over 100 favourite recipes donated by people across the globe and well-known chefs including Margaret Fulton.

As well as distributing books to bushfire-affected communities, copies are being sold online and in Angus & Robertson and ABC Shops to raise funds for the Salvation Army's relief work.

Zoe Elizabeth Bikini Queen Pop-Up Store

There once was a girl who wanted nothing more than to find the perfect bikini. She searched shop after shop from Portsea to Bondi, trying on bikini after bikini until she could try no longer. But still she couldn't find that perfect bikini.
Then one day, her fairy godmother suggested she head along to Fashion School. There she could learn to make her own bikinis! So off she went, skipping and frolicking her way through Fashion School, sewing and stitching, cutting and hitching, until she had just the right shapes - a little bit naughty and a little bit nice.
And so it began - the adventures of Zoe Elizabeth, Bikini Queen.

    The Frowning Clouds

The Frowning Clouds are a band made up of Geelong locals. Their music is reminiscent of 60s rock 'n' roll and just like the music of that era it is extremely catchy and makes you want to shake your tail feather.

You can catch them live at The Grace Darling (114 Smith St, Collingwood) on December 17.
