This novel is a re-imagining of the theft of Pablo Picasso's Weeping Woman from the National Gallery of Victoria by a group that coined itself the Australian Cultural Terrorists. They were never apprehended, but the picture was recovered from the locker room in Spencer Street station that doubled as a urinal. Set in Melbourne in 1986, the story fabricates a bevy of interesting and entertaining characters that are linked or involved in some way.
Wonderful and hearty Australian literature; definitely worth a read.
This is the fifth novel from Melbourne author Anson Cameron.
