  Are you the next BIG thing?

  Are you a budding fashion or accessories designer? Or perhaps a craftsperson or stylist? Are you interested in winning $10,000 and a mentorship with creative leaders like Zimmermann or Marc Newson?

  If so, the Qantas Spirit Of Youth Awards (Soya), the leading grants program for emerging creative talent, could be for you! This initiative encourages creativity in a range of industries and is aimed specifically at young people (under 30 that is).

  With past winners including Akina, Friedrich Gray and Antipodium, this is one serious competition open to students and emerging designers who want to get ahead!

  So.. this is what to do:
  1. Go to the Soya website and follow the application questions and upload examples of your work.
  2. Add some info about stockists, media coverage, participation in events or fashion shows, study etc
  3. DONE ... it's that easy!

  Registrations close by July 31st 2009.

  That cake from Masterchef!

  Those of you who were glued to Masterchef every night will not forget that chocolate mousse cake! You may have been wondering where to find that amazing creation to try it for yourself.....
  Well, Adriano Zumbo is the name of the chef and his patisserie is located in Balmain, Sydney. He has been inundated with requests for this cake, so he is holding a competition. 100 people will be drawn from the entries and the winners will have the option to purchase their very own cake for $90. He is only making 100 cakes! 5% of the proceeds will be donated to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

  The new season of Rush is back and the first episode last week did not disappoint. Rush is an Australian drama shot and based in Melbourne. It follows the working and personal lives of the members of the Police Tactical Response team. It will keep you on the edge of your couch!

  Boreks at the Vic Market

  The Turkish food stall at the Queen Victoria Markets dishes up some amazing traditional Boreks and at $2.50 a pop, they're the tastiest bargain ever! There are 3 fresh varieties made on the premises: spicy lamb, spicy vegetable and spinach and cheese. Yum!

The colourful and inspiring shop is independently owned and run by passionate vintage buyers, sourcing exuberant and unique pieces from all eras, recovered from all over the world. The prices are a bit hefty but some items are worth adopting, like their cute collection of cowboy boots, fabulous vintage frocks and even a range of men's getup.
