You don't have to look far to find beautiful architecture in Melbourne. The Dome at 333 Collins Street is one example of ornate beauty within our city's building walls. Dating back to 1891, this building was once a bank and was reworked in the 1930s.
You will find people standing in the foyer, staring at the ceiling in appreciation & wonder. Students are brought here. Tourists come from afar. Businessmen pass beneath, not even glancing above them.
Functions and product launches are held here. Take the time to check it out if you haven't already done so.

Kathy O'Beirne tells the harrowing story of her time inside a series of institutions including one of Ireland's notorious Magdalene Sisters Laundries. These workhouses which operated in Ireland during the twentieth century, were slave houses for young girls, often orphans, some pregnant or considered 'at risk' in the community. These girls were often sexually abused or cruelly punished. Kathy's tragic and detailed story is captivating and shocking. She tells her story in the hope that more will be done to help survivors of institutional abuse.
The film,The Magdalene Sisters was made in 2003 about the same topic.
